In the Cibitoke health district, on the prevention side, we are implementing a three-pronged strategy that includes the recently introduced malaria vaccination for children under five, long-term preventive chemoprophylaxis, and the distribution of mosquito nets.

Cibitoke is the only health district in Burundi where these three layers of protection are being applied. MSF is helping to implement this strategy in around 20 health centres.

This triple prevention strategy is very inexpensive compared to the cost of treatment. It could be adopted and scaled up quickly, thanks to the low costs.
