Osama Zomlot (23), injured twice in less than a year, lost his left leg and sustained severe fractures after an airstrike hit a tent near him during a visit to Deir al-Balah. Months earlier, he survived 23 hours under the rubble when his uncle’s home was bombed. Now in hospital after multiple surgeries, he is still waiting for medical evacuation. “All I want is to stand on my feet again.”

This package brings together six testimonies from patients inside Nasser Hospital who are awaiting medical evacuation from Gaza, three mothers speaking about their children’s critical conditions and three adults in need of lifesaving treatment abroad. Documenting the struggle of patients who can no longer access essential medical care due to the collapse of Gaza’s health system due to the Genocide.

More than 18,500 people, including thousands of children, are registered for evacuation; many others remain uncounted because they cannot reach health facilities. According to Ministry of Health (MOH) records, 1,092 patients died while awaiting medical evacuation between July 2024 and November 28, 2025. However, this figure is likely underreported, as it is based solely on reported deaths.

These testimonies highlight the urgent need for a permanent medical evacuation mechanism, and unhindered humanitarian access so patients can receive the care they need—and eventually return home safely.
