Yamen, a playful and social child who loves stories, drawing and colouring, suffered a dangerous relapse in his heart condition as months of displacement, poor nutrition and harsh living conditions weakened his heart muscle to just 20% , and while he has a referral for medical evacuation, his mother says his condition is deteriorating so quickly that any delay could cost him his life.
This package brings together six testimonies from patients inside Nasser Hospital who are awaiting medical evacuation from Gaza, three mothers speaking about their children’s critical conditions and three adults in need of lifesaving treatment abroad. Documenting the struggle of patients who can no longer access essential medical care due to the collapse of Gaza’s health system due to the Genocide.

More than 18,500 people, including thousands of children, are registered for evacuation; many others remain uncounted because they cannot reach health facilities. According to Ministry of Health (MOH) records, 1,092 patients died while awaiting medical evacuation between July 2024 and November 28, 2025. However, this figure is likely underreported, as it is based solely on reported deaths.

These testimonies highlight the urgent need for a permanent medical evacuation mechanism, and unhindered humanitarian access so patients can receive the care they need—and eventually return home safely.
