IDPs:

"In Syria, what we have seen is not camp settings as we have traditionally experienced from Africa and other countries, they are more hosted. Either they are taking over one of these abandoned houses or empty houses from people who have fled across the border or they are hosted together with other families. The villagers that is receiving these IDPs has been to support them in many ways, and of course by the room itself and then you have water, food and other things. With a big number the houses is not enough, so some schools is opened, a certain number of people as well living in tents. There is supply coming in from across the border in terms of food supply, far away enough to everybody but still the quantities that is efficient to be able to move on. We regularly visit the bordering villages in case of there is any urgent need we are ready to go in. A punctual support for the displaced people, specifically the ones living in tents and distribution of non-food items as blankets, hygiene materials and jerry cans to be able to collect water. We did start mobile clinics to be sure that the medical situation is stable. We are following the needs to be able to install a referral system when it’s needed: patients that need to be observed for some time, you have children with severe infection in the airways, pneumonia, so that’s mainly the referrals."
