1. Have you heard about Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox)?

2. It is a disease caused by the Mpox virus, which is transmitted by close contact between animals and, since its mutation, between humans.

3.The main symptoms are
o Fever
o Skin rashes
o Skin lesions
o Pain
o Headaches
o Exhaustion

4.It has been present in Central and West Africa since the 1970s, but the number of cases has tripled since 2023 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

5. Since January, more than 14,000 suspected cases

6. and almost 511 deaths have already been recorded.

7. In the DRC, MSF is working alongside the authorities in four particularly hard-hit provinces to

8. a) care for patients b) isolate suspected cases

9. c) train local staff d) raise community awareness on hygiene and prevention measures

10. We need to speed up access to tests, drugs and vaccines to curb this epidemic, which has been declared as public health emergency by the WHO.
