The year 2023 has been a particularly trying one. Earthquakes in Afghanistan, conflict in Sudan and a massive influx of refugees in Chad, floods in Libya, a record cholera epidemic in Malawi and war in Gaza... Events followed one another with unprecedented intensity. And yet, with each new crisis, Médecins Sans Frontières teams were able to mobilize quickly and massively to help those in need.
"We did what we could. Remember us. This message, written by one of MSF's emergency doctors on a whiteboard in a Gaza hospital, resonates as the year draws to a close with the death of five of our colleagues in the field. This retrospective in images is intended to pay tribute to the efforts made by our teams around the world, sometimes at the risk of their lives, and to remind us collectively of their commitment.
