CAMEROON - Humanitarian crises and climate change

Cameroon is caught between several overlapping humanitarian crises, including recurrent epidemics, food insecurity-related malnutrition, waterborne diseases, and conflict and displacement, which prevent access to treatment and health care. "An estimated 11.1 million people in Cameroon's Lake Chad Basin (OCHA) require humanitarian assistance. Approximately 2.5 million people have fled their homes due to the Lake Chad crisis and 5 million are food insecure. The Sahel is a region particularly affected by the effects of climate disruption and these effects are impacting existing crises and contributing to increased humanitarian needs already present in the region and the most vulnerable people are the most affected.
