These are pictures drawn by children being treated for TB at the Dushanbe City Children's TB Hospital in Tajikistan.
To show our support for these brave patients, MSF and the Tajikistan Ministry of Health organised an exhibition of their drawings for World TB Day. As part of the exhibition, which opened on 16 March, we held a drawing competition and these are the results.
Usually children contract TB from relatives. It’s hard to diagnose, but TB is treatable and curable if we catch it early and start treatment in time, so that’s really important. If their condition permits it, children can very often be treated at home. This has been MSF’s experience of treating paediatric TB in Tajikistan, which we do in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
Unfortunately, TB still comes with a lot of stigma, so we can’t name the children that drew these pictures.
