Tuberculosis is affecting close to one quarter of the world population and although it is a curable disease, it continues to kill around 1.5 million people per year. India has the highest burden of both tuberculosis (TB) and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and accounts for 28% of global TB burden1based on estimates reported in Global TB Report 2022

India contributes to 31% of global Childhood TB burden. Childhood Tuberculosis (0-14 age group) remains a huge challenge globally and including in India2. Only 12,200 (11%) of the target of 1,15000 estimated case detection was achieved for the pediatric age group thus constituting a big gap in terms of case detections.

Objectives :
To advocate for child friendly diagnostic tools, which supports improving case detection, and an all-oral pediatric DRTB treatment regimen (Bedaquiline and Delaminid) as per latest WHO guidelines.
To highlight TB diagnostics and treatment services in the M-east ward (Mumbai) under the National TB Elimination Programme’s (NTEP) multi-stakeholder collaboration, in which MSF is a key partner.
