Last night (14th of October) a fire broke out in the reception and identification center in Vathy camp on Samos island.
This incident took place just 2 weeks after the fire in Moria. This time a fire erupted in Vathy camp on Samos island. So far, there is no official reports about casualties. Our team on the ground reports that some of the accommodation structures were destroyed and about 600 of people had lost their sleeping space and were hosted in different buildings provided by local NGOs.
MSF will provide emergency psychological aid as well as non-food items to those affected by the fire.The MSF team is also currently supporting the local hospital by providing interpreters.
In this camp about 6,000 people are crammed under dreadful conditions in a structure designed just for 650. Half of them are children and women and the majority of them have to live in makeshift tents with no regular access to toilets or showers.
