War affects women’s lives. They learn to become stronger, more resilient, and unafraid to take on additional responsibility for the lives of those around them in conditions of complete uncertainty. The Female Voices package, through the example of female medical staff in Ukraine, aims to show how women’s lives are being transformed by the war. In the unstable world we live in today.
Olha Horenko, MSF ambulance doctor. She works in areas near the eastern frontline in Ukraine. Her team transfers patients from overcrowded frontline Ministry of Health (MoH) hospitals to medical facilities in safer areas further to the rear;
Nadiia Tokar, MSF paramedic at a Ministry of Health hospital in southern Ukraine, which we support. Due to the war, people in frontline regions have limited access to medical care, so the main group of patients Nadiia works with are elderly people experiencing exacerbations of chronic illnesses;
Viktoriia Muliarova, MSF psychologist at the acute rehabilitation project in central Ukraine. Her team supports patients with severe injuries and amputations in adapting to their new lives.
