On 27 June 2023, the Geo Barents arrived La Spezia and disembarked the 13 people, including women and unaccompanied minors who were rescued on Saturday 24 June.
Some of those survivors told us about the traumatic experience they have witnessed when a23-year-old man from #Syria fell overboard and drifted from the rubber boat. They were unable to retrieve him due the lack of fuel.
Survivors have also told us what they described as the Maltese Navy arriving on scene and providing them fuel so that they can reach Italy. Survivors asked the Maltese Navy, to be rescued.
