Community Health Workers struggle to respond amid severe restrictions in Rakhine state, Myanmar

For the past nine weeks, MSF teams in Rakhine state have been unable to run any of their 25 mobile clinics that see on average 1,500 patients per week. This is due to a fierce intensification of conflict and humanitarian organisations not being granted authorisation to travel within the state. Our community health workers are the only lifeline for patients in many of the areas we were previously running services in.

We have been trying to find solutions to these restrictions on running our mobile clinics, including running tele-consultations between doctors and patients, but for weeks now, our community health workers are the only people with direct access to patients.
