Since the night of June 13-14, violence has been escalating around the Maternité Isaïe Jeanty (MIJ), supported by Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), in Cité Soleil, Port-au-Prince. Caught in the crossfire and facing a situation that has become untenable, the team has been forced to suspend the medical activities until further notice. Access to sexual and reproductive health care, already extremely limited in the area, is now non-existent, leaving hundreds of thousands of people affected by the violence with no way to seek treatment.

MSF has been supporting the rehabilitation of the MIJ since November 2024, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, to provide sexual and reproductive health services, including prenatal and postnatal consultations, family planning, and obstetric surgery.

A referral system is also in place to transfer patients to adapted medical structures. Our team also offers medical and psychological care to survivors of sexual violence in its Pran Men’m clinic located within the maternity.
