CAR: Renewed violence takes toll on population of Bambari

At the end of 2020, fighting between a coalition of non-state armed groups and government forces, supported by international military allies, plunged CAR into a new cycle of violence.

For several months, the town of Bambari in Ouaka prefecture has been the epicenter of fighting. In June, about 8,500 people were expelled from their makeshift camp, which was subsequently burned to the ground. IDPs have sought refuge in the compound of a mosque in Bambari town where they are living in very precarious conditions. We have collected testimonies from the IDPs as well as other people in Bambari who have been deeply affected by the continuous cycle of violence in the country.
