Impact of violence - Delmas 4 - Port-au-Prince

Many areas of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, have become battlegrounds for competing armed groups in recent months and years. The violence has been intensifying and spreading across larger parts of the capital, keeping the population trapped in neighbourhoods that lack health care and other essential services. Since late 2021, MSF mobile medical teams have been offering basic health care in the neighbourhoods of Delmas 4, Bel Air and Bas Bel Air to people who otherwise have no access to basic health care. Due to chronic shortage of water the country suffers from, MSF scaled up activities in May this year to include water distribution (20 litres/person) for the population of Delmas 4, as people’s access to clean water is restricted by violence and increased insecurity.
