In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent global economic crisis, thousands of Venezuelan migrants who have lost their jobs are returning to their home country via Táchira state, which borders Colombia. Local authorities have established a quarantine system in Táchira for all returnees as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19. MSF teams, working with municipal and state authorities, are providing assistance to Venezuelans returning to their country and undergoing mandatory quarantine in the government centres near the border, with a particular focus on water and sanitation to ensure people can access safe drinking water and to prevent common diseases.

SPANISH: En el marco de la pandemia de COVID-19 y la crisis económica que se ha generado a nivel global, miles de migrantes venezolanos que han perdido sus trabajos regresan a su país a través del estado fronterizo con Colombia, Táchira, donde las autoridades nacionales han establecido un sistema de cuarentena preventiva para todas las personas que buscan volver a sus hogares. Médicos Sin Fronteras (MSF), en conjunto con las autoridades municipales y estadales, brinda asistencia a quienes se hospedan momentáneamente en estos centros de cuarentena obligatoria, especialmente el área de agua y saneamiento, para dar acceso a agua potable y prevenir enfermedades comunes.
