Nearly fifteen months after the ceasefire announced in November 2024, Lebanon remains under fire. Israeli attacks have continued, with a noticeable uptick in January 2026, particularly in the Nabatiyeh governorate of southern Lebanon, the region most heavily impacted by the war and where MSF maintains an operational presence.

The cumulative impact of this situation is deeply human and cannot be understated. Families who returned after earlier displacement are once again without safe shelter or a sense of stability. People of all ages question where the ceasefire that was meant to protect them is, while persistent fear shapes daily life, disrupts healthcare access, and takes a heavy toll on mental health.

MSF teams in Nabatiyeh continue to provide medical and mental health care through mobile clinics, while expanding activities to improve access to healthcare across the governorate. Additionally, following airstrikes in residential areas that trigger sudden displacement—such as the February Israeli attack in Kfar Tebnit—MSF teams distribute emergency relief items like mattresses and food parcels to support the impacted families.
