Lebanon, July 2026, What are families returning to?

The situation in Lebanon remains highly fragile, volatile, and marked by profound uncertainty. Despite repeated announcements of ceasefires and de-escalation efforts, including a trilateral agreement framework[MS2.1] between Lebanon, the United States, and Israel on June 26, Israeli military operations, including drone strikes, shelling, and demolitions continue to pose immediate threat to recovery efforts and returning families, especially in the southern parts of the country. Communities remain caught between hopes of stability and the reality of ongoing insecurity, with many displaced families making repeated journeys to check on their homes without knowing whether conditions will allow them to return safely or permanently.
