The opening of the Maternal School took place on February 5th 2019 in the city of Aidarken in the Kadamjay district of the Batken region with support of MSF.

In a fully equipped room in Aidarken hospital, future mothers will get comprehensive preparation for the childbirth and parenthood. The School’s tasks include the training of women in childbirth, preparation for childbirth, methods of pain relief, self-help and recovery, as well as elimination of negative emotions and, above all, emotions of fear. Particular attention in the process of training will be given to the acquisition of new useful skills in caring for the baby, communicating with him, and the skills of breastfeeding.

The course for the childbirth preparation lasts for 5 weeks, starting from approximately 17th week of pregnancy. Classes will be divided into a theoretical part, which will increase the knowledge for future parents, and a practical part, where a future mother will be prepared for the delivery.
