In this video, Viviane Bruwier, MSF Deputy Project Coordinator, explains how on May 6, in Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps in the West Bank, Palestine, a 24-hour violent Israeli military incursion resulted in significant destruction of essential infrastructure, including damage to an MSF-supported health facility: a Stabilization point in Tulkarem camp. People who are injured during these raids are regularly blocked from receiving medical attention. This highlights the urgent need for Trauma stabilization points - a basic facility with some beds and medical supplies to stabilise patients until they’re able to be transported to hospital. The incursion is part of a pattern of continuous attacks on Tulkarem by Israeli forces, preceded by a larger-scale raid on the city and its camps a few weeks ago, all carried out in the shadow of the war in nearby Gaza. According to OCHA, since October 7th, 479 Palestinians have been killed, including 116 children, in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. While according to the WHO, there have been 92 attacks on healthcare in Tulkarem from October 2023 until April 2024.
