Since the resumption of the conflict in Sudan, around 30,000 people have fled to Chad according to the UNHCR.

Médecins Sans Frontières is carrying out a vaccination campaign to protect children against measles in temporary camps set up by the border, such as Koufroun. 8,145 children have already been vaccinated there. In early April, a similar campaign was carried out covering 3,600 children whose families had already fled recurring violence in the Darfur region.


Our teams also provide vitamin supplements and deworming treatments. They also screen and treat children for acute malnutrition. So far, 198 malnourished children have been referred to a health center in Hilouta, which MSF has been supporting since last year.

Our teams are preparing to extend their support should the situation worsen. In eastern Chad there were already 400,000 Sudanese refugees, often in overcrowded camps with inadequate sanitation facilities and reduced access to food aid.
