The challenges faced by asylum seekers and migrants arriving in Greece are severe. These refugees, fleeing conflict, war, and persecution, endure immense hardships, including dangerous migration journeys and systemic barriers in their host country, such as language obstacles, lack of access to healthcare, legal and social services as well as lack of efficient asylum procedures.

MSF teams in Greece have been working since 2016 to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to migrants who have arrived from different countries from the MENA region and beyond including people from Syria, Sudan, Gaza, the West bank, Egypt as well as people from Eritrea and Afghanistan.

MSF teams in Greece continue to treat the physical and mental wounds of people on the move arriving on the Greek island of Samos. In a social media video, we draw attention to the dire living conditions lived by MENA migrants in the closed controlled access center of Samos and the need for EU leaders and the Greek government to take action to improve living conditions and guarantee asylum procedures.
