For almost a year, MSF teams in Darfur have been witnessing the surge and the spread of outbreaks of measles in several locations of the region.
First cases were observed as soon as in June 2024, in Rokero: little city in the North of the Jebel Marra Mountains, in Central Darfur, where MSF has been uninterruptedly running the local hospital since 2020. In February 2025 cases also started to be reported in Forbrenga, West Darfur, and in Tawila, North Darfur, two cities were MSF also works. More recently, new surges are also being observed in Zalengei, in Tine, in Fanga, in Sortony.
