Marib, located in northeast on the edge of large deserts, is one of the active frontlines in Yemen. According to International Organization of Migration, more than 13,000 families were displaced in or to Marib Governorate in 2021 last year due to hostilities. Marib’s nearly 150 formal or informal camps are a temporary home to Yemenis displaced from their homes by the conflict, African migrants and marginalized communities. The population staying in camps generally lack basis facilities of shelter, sanitation, drinking water and healthcare. Due to a medical and humanitarian response that is insufficient, we are looking at needs that are unmet in Marib. The new wave of fighting could exacerbate the vulnerabilities of the population and in addition, worsen what is already a precarious situation.
