In the period leading up to the 13th October 2008, British surgeon David Nott (pictured) and his medical team, worked round the clock in the Rutshuru hospital in North Kivu, responding to the effects of violence in the region.

In one 24 hour period, two MSF surgical teams treated 75 patients - all victims of gunshot wounds.
