Trauma Centre in Kunduz

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Trauma Centre in Kunduz is the only facility in the whole north-eastern region of Afghanistan providing high level life- and limb-saving trauma care. There is a strict no weapon policy inside the hospital to ensure all patients can receive free medical and surgical care safely. Since last year, Kunduz province has seen a significant increase of conflicts. In 2014, more than 22,000 patients received care at the trauma center while in the first six months in 2015, the center already admitted 13,442 patients and performed 3,378 operations. MSF has been able to provide medical care in such a volatile environment by ensuring its medical activities are recognized and respected by the community and all parties to the conflict.
