Bombing and shelling of Syria’s southern Idlib and northern Hama governorates have caused 500,000 movements[1] of displaced people and have led to increasing numbers of casualties, with hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries since the end of April 2019, according to multiple reports. Civilian infrastructure – including medical facilities, schools, markets and camps for displaced people – has also been hit and damaged. Though nobody escapes the effects of this offensive entirely, for some people in Idlib there are additional health issues that make their lives even more challenging. There are also people willing to make a huge commitment to help these patients. Mohammad Al Youssef is a Syrian doctor. For the past five years, he has been working with MSF, to provide life-saving treatment for people who have received a kidney transplant.
