Bangladesh: MSF opens a COVID-19 treatment centre in Cox’s Bazar

On 26 July 2020, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is opening the Severe Acute Respiratory Infection – Isolation and Treatment Centre (SARI-ITC) in the Nayapara refugee camp, in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh.

The inauguration of the COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre arrives as MSF continues to scale up activities in response to the coronavirus outbreak in this part of the country. The centre will have a maximum capacity for 100 beds.

The centre adds to the existing healthcare network in the district to support the Ministry of Health to manage the increasing number of COVID-19 patients, both from the local Bangladeshi and Rohingya refugee communities.
