COVID-19 intervention in the Amazon region of Peru

With more than 550,000 cases, Peru is one of the countries in Latin America that has been most affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. MSF is supporting the Ministry of Health in its response to the epidemic in the Amazon region, where the outbreak has highlighted the neglect of indigenous communities. In cooperation with a team from the Basque health services in Spain we are supporting the ICU, emergency and hospitalization services of the hospitals of Tarapoto, Huánuco and Tingo María. Another team is supporting remote primary health centers in Datem de Marañon province with trainings and donations.
