Since 2018 MSF runs a project for vulnerable migrants in the city of Brussels. In Belgium, migrants that decide not to apply for asylum have very limited access to health and mental health, as well as to basic assistance like food, clothes, shelter. To cover this gap, several humanitarian and civil society organisations decided to create the Humanitarian Hub where migrants can have access to basic services and medical care.
Mental health support is one of the most urgent need of these people who have often passed through traumatic experiences like violence or torture in their countries of origin or in the journey. Their living conditions in Belgium contribute to often deteriorate their psychological situation.
. It is for this reason that MSF has decided to respond to this specific need. The project is composed of 3 activities:
• At the Humanitarian Hub and in some accommodations in the city MSF provides mental health care and consultations.
• People who require follow up consultations and those who require psychiatric support are assisted in a specific center on the Quai des Charbonnages site. MSF also organises focus groups at the Sister House (for women) and in some accommodation as required.
• MSF teams als provide capacity building of partner teams including training in Psychological Support and first aid and other trainings as required for accommodation teams.

In 2019, The MSF team received more than 530 people in individual consultations. Most were men from Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea.
