Primary Healthcare & Mental Health/Psychosocial Support Services for Syrian Refugees in Kilis, Turkey

MSF technically and financially supports the activities of Citizens’ Assembly (CA), a local NGO providing primary healthcare and mental health/psychosocial support services to Syrian refugees at its clinic in the Turkish city of Kilis, near the Syrian border. Starting in April, 2013, CA responded to the medical and psychological needs of Syrian refugees living in the city after fleeing the violence in Syria. As part of this project, CA opened a psychosocial support centre and a temporary primary healthcare clinic in order to provide medical services for Syrian refugees. The health centre was opened with authorisation of the Kilis Governorate, in coordination with Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey (AFAD) and with the permission of the Emergency Department of the Ministry of Health. In 2016, the Mental Health team provided 32,775 medical consultations and 8,929 consultations during group activities.
