In Mundri town in the Equatoria region of southern South Sudan, MSF operates the emergency room inside of a Ministry of Health (MoH) Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC). The emergency room treats people from Mundri town but also those from communities further away as it is one of the better functioning health centres in the area. MSF also provides support for the MoH maternity programme in the Mundri PHCC, assisting with complicated deliveries, particularly where the mother or child's life could be in danger.

A vital component of the project is Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) where Nursing Care Providers (NCPs) treat people for the three main diseases that affect people in the region, malaria, Acute Watery Diarrhoea (AWD) and pneumonia, as well as engaging in health promotion, screening for malnutrition and providing SGBV sensitisation. The nursing staff travel to communities by bicycle so that MSF is able to provide healthcare as close as possible to people. Each week, the team in Mundri travels either east or south to meet the NCPs and provide supervision and training to ensure they provide a sufficient standard of care.
ICCM work allows people to be treated early after the onset of illness, without it they may wait until conditions become more severe before making long journeys to healthcare facilities. Where the nursing staff encounter people with more advanced conditions, they are able to make referrals to other facilities, including the MSF run ER in Mundri town. From 1 January to 30.
