Kenya - Dadaab Refugee Camp

Kenya continues to host nearly half a million refugees and asylum seekers mainly from Somalia, South Sudan and the Great Lakes region. The Dadaab refugee complex—Dagahaley, Hagadera and Ifo—is among the oldest refugee camps in the world today, hosting almost half of Kenya’s refugee population. Many of Dadaab’s current residents were born in exile and have only known life within the camps.
MSF has been providing healthcare in Dadaab for most of the camp’s existence. MSF’s current programmes are focused in Dagahaley, where it provides comprehensive healthcare to refugees and over 26,000 people in host communities including primary and secondary care through a 100-bed hospital and two health posts. The medical services include sexual and reproductive health care, medical and psychological assistance to survivors of sexual violence, mental health care and palliative care among others.
