MSF Concludes more than 10 years of Medical Support in Nduta Refugee Camp

When violence broke out in Burundi in 2015, thousands of people fled over the border into Tanzania and sought refuge in Nduta camp. For over 10 years, MSF delivered vital medical services to both the refugees and the local community. In November 2025, the Tanzanian government announced an accelerated return of more than 50,000 refugees from Nduta Camp by the end of April 2026. Now that the camp has been closed, MSF teams are wrapping up activities and handing over services to local health actors to ensure continuity of care beyond the project's closure. This compilation of testimonies from local staff aims to humanize the closure and celebrate shared achievements in order to highlight that MSF’s legacy extends beyond the response to an acute refugee crisis.
