Bangassou - General Context 2016

MSF supports a 118-bed hospital in Bangassou, in the centre of the Central African Republic. Once the site of violent incursions, the town has settled into a relative calm; however, public services and infrastructure are still lacking and people still desperately need the basics, such as quality healthcare. At the 118 bed MSF-supported regional hospital of Bangassou, the medical teams treat the sickest of Mbomou prefecture’s 200,000 inhabitants. The staff tend to patients in the pediatric, maternity and neonatal wards, an internal medicine unit, the emergency room, an intensive care unit, and in the operating theatre and surgical ward. The structure also includes a state-of-the art container pharmacy. MSF has been working in Bangassou since February 2014.
