How do MSF surgical teams manage the inflow of patients?

For many patients with war wounds and other traumatic injuries, an initial surgery to stop bleeding and infection is life-saving.

But for longer-term recovery, these patients can need multiple operations combined with high quality nursing care.

Meanwhile, the surgical team must also operate on other emergency patients as they arrive.

When multiple casualties arrive at the hospital at once, surgical teams come under immense pressure: both on the day of the incident and for weeks afterwards, as they work to give all patients the best possible chance of recovery.
