In 2021, MSF teams started new activities in Sokuluk, Chuy province to improve early detection, treatment and prevention of breast and cervical cancers. Kyrgyzstan is among the countries with the highest prevalence of cervical cancer, and a lack of active screening means that women are diagnosed at a very late stage. Our project pilots decentralising cancer prevention and care by integrating detection and treatment into basic healthcare facilities.
In anticipation of the forthcoming International Day of Action for Women's Health on May 28th, the Mission of "Médecins Sans Frontières" (MSF) in Kyrgyzstan hosted awareness sessions on feminine hygiene for high school students.
Jany-Jer village was chosen as the village hosts one of MSF's screening centers as well as an eco-point established with the organization's support. The event took place in collaboration with Jeany-Jer village high school, where the MSF team organized an informational gathering, offering the students a chance to grasp the fundamentals of women's health while being proposed guidance on its preservation and maintenance. Health professionals and a psychologist from MSF conducted training sessions and addressed the students' queries.
