Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been ordered to move south, primarily to al-Mawasi near Khan Younis, an area designated by Israeli authorities as a “humanitarian zone.” In reality, conditions there are dire and deteriorating. Families displaced from the north often find themselves with no shelter, food, or water, forced to live in overcrowded tents without sanitation or healthcare.
MSF teams in the south are witnessing how dire living conditions, repeated displacement, and lack of medical services are causing severe health issues, including malnutrition among children and pregnant women.
The current ceasefire has not ended the suffering for more than two million people, it has only exposed the devastating, man-made consequences of a two-year genocidal campaign.
