Kaylar village is situated in the middle of Inle Lake, Southern Shan State which was significantly affected by the March earthquake especially water supply system. Previously, the community relied on the lake for daily water needs and drinking, but in recent years the lake became contaminated with chemicals.
MSF supported the construction of the 4.5 km pipeline, the drilling of a 390-foot-deep borehole as a clean water source, the installation of a water pumping station, and the connection of pipelines to the water purification system. The project supports not only the restoration but also the improvement of the water supply service - an important step in restoring dignity, preventing water-related diseases, and strengthening the community’s health. The interview was conducted at the event with the local resident who express their challenges to access clean water and the impact of MSF’ work for the community.
