Tigray Mental Health

Since the end of the two-year conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray region (2020–2022), communities continue to suffer the devastating consequences of displacement, the collapse of healthcare systems, and lack of essential services. With over 760,406 displaced people living in overcrowded camps, struggling with shortages of food, clean water, sanitation, and shelter1.

Psychological impact of the conflict remains one of the most pressing but often overlooked consequences as Trauma caused by violence, loss, and displacement continues to affect thousands of people in the region, yet access to mental health care remains extremely limited leaving a lot of survivors to cope with the long-term effects of trauma alone.
