Today we are sharing something that is difficult.

Four years ago, on June 24th 2021,

three of our colleagues

were brutally murdered

while working in Central Tigray, Ethiopia:

They were in a clearly

identified vehicle

and were wearing vests with our logo.

They were intercepted

and killed at close range

with several shots fired.

A convoy of the Ethiopian

National Defence Forces was present at the same

point and time

on the road where they were killed.

An audio witness

overheard orders from a commander

of the Ethiopian National

Defence Forces to remove them.

Since then, we have relentlessly called

for a credible investigation.

We have held countless meetings

with all relevant actors

including the Ethiopian authorities.

We have shared our findings,

but for four years later,

we still have no answers.

We can only conclude

that there is no political will

to shed light on these murders.

our own internal review.

Because this was not a crossfire

or a tragic mistake.

It was an intentional

and targeted killing

of three humanitarian workers.

We do this not only out of moral obligation,

but to demand accountability

so that this crime

does not go unpunished.

lost their lives trying to save others.
