Safety & dignity?

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s food distribution scheme shatters the most basic standards of safe, dignified humanitarian aid—turning the act of seeking food into a deadly risk.
Failure Since opening, GHF food sites have systematically caused mass casualties. Between 7 June and 24 July 2025, 1,380 injured people, including children with gunshot wounds, and 28 dead bodies have been received in the two MSF healthcare centres located close to the GHF distribution sites.


Targeted Assistance?
Failure GHF distributions have no consideration of people with specific needs. Those able to walk long distances and fight through crowds get the food — not female headed households, older persons, people with disabilities, or the chronically ill.


Accessibility?

Failure Distributions are limited to just four militarized sites, forcing civilians to walk up to 10 km—compared to 400 UN run points during the ceasefire. Many travel at night to secure front posts to be the first to get aid.



Transparency?

Failure Information on GHF site openings is inconsistent, often spread informally via social media. Sites are sometimes declared open, then shut within minutes—leaving civilians confused, vulnerable, and at increased risk.



MSF’s asks to the Israeli Authorities

-Immediately shut down the GHF distributions, which has proven to be deadly, degrading, dangerous, and counterproductive.

-Lift the siege and open all crossings. Open all land borders crossings to allow for the rapid safe, and unhindered entry of both commercial goods and humanitarian aid, and facilitate the relief operations of impartial & professional humanitarian actors.

-Ensure the entry of food into Gaza at sufficient scale and speed to confront the growing threat of the manufactured starvation, easing the pressure on existing aid convoys.

- Restore the UN-coordinated mechanism to deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance.

-Improve the safety of aid delivery through ensuring effective humanitarian notification systems are in place to allow professional impartial humanitarian actors to undertake relief operations at scale.



MSF’s asks to UN Member States

The U.S. should immediately suspend its financial and political support to GHF

.

Refrain from funding the GHF distribution mechanism, which has demonstrably failed to deliver safe, dignified, and effective humanitarian aid to civilians.

Strongly denounce the violence at GHF sites and call for dismantling this scheme.

Exert all available diplomatic and political leverage to pressure Israeli authorities to restore the UN-led humanitarian coordination system and lift the siege on Gaza, to allow the necessary humanitarian supplies to enter at scale.

Demand Israeli authorities provide a transparent account to ensure humanitarian assistance effectively reaches all civilians in need, wherever they are, and addresses the escalating humanitarian crisis, including acute food insecurity.

Call for an independent investigation into the potential violations of Israeli domestic law and international criminal law which has occurred at GHF-managed distribution sites; including the indiscriminate (and targeted) use of force against unarmed civilians.
