Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) recently delivered critical support to families displaced by violence in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In Hangu, MSF provided 120 hygiene kits and other essential non-food items to help meet immediate needs within the temporarily established camps for internally displaced people.

MSF also installed additional water tanks in the camp of the town of Thall to address the vital water and sanitation needs. In addition, to address the urgent medical shortages due to the increasing patient load, MSF donated essential medicines and medical supplies to Thall type D Hospital and Hangu type D Hospital. These facilities have been under significant strain as they work to care for the rising number of displaced individuals in the area.

The security situation in Kurram District, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, remains gravely concerning following a sharp escalation in inter-communal violence that began in late November 2024, and resulted in the displacement of more than 13, 000 individuals from Kurram. According to reports the violence claimed over 130 lives and left hundreds injured. Many people from the region have been displaced and taken refuge in government buildings and host communities.
