On 29 August, a fifth rescue was conducted. The alert was sent the day before by the Alarm Phone and confirmed in the morning by Sea Bird, the humanitarian aircraft from Sea Watch. The Geo Barents navigated full speed towards the boat in distress for more than 10 hours. The 18 people, including two young children, have been rescued. After almost three days without drinkable water, the survivors were dehydrated. They joined the other survivors and were cared for by the medical team.
