MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) has been working at the landing port Pozzallo in Sicily, Italy to conduct health screening and triage for the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees upon their arrival since the beginning of 2014. From February 2015, we have started to work inside the first reception centre (CPSA) in collaboration with Ministry of Health to provide medical services for the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees from the time they arrived and during their stay in the centre. The doctors and nurses in our team work alongside with the staff from the Ministry of Health.

Some broken boats are left at the landing port in Pozzallo. These boats have been used to carry migrants, asylum seekers and refugees to reach Italy through the Mediterranean Sea. The belongings of the migrants were left on the boat.
From January to the beginning of April 2015, more than 12,000 migrants and refugees have travelled to Italy by sea. In 2014, over 170,000 people have landed from the Italian shores.
