Since May, in the cities of Reynosa and Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, MSF is working in two centres to care for patients with severe cases of COVID-19, people with mild cases who cannot isolate, and returned migrants and asylum seekers with suspected cases of COVID-19. Both centres provide comprehensive healthcare to patients and their families, which include psychosocial care, family visits to the patients in safe areas, and health promotion activities. One of the challenges facing MSF teams, patients and families is how to allow for grieving in COVID-19 centres. MSF has developed a way, in safe area, for families to grieve and be provided with a programme of psychological support. To create more acceptance and visibility, we are planning to publish a comms package with two videos: one interview with two psychologists from COVID-19 centres, and one testimony of a family member of a patient. We will also publish an article about grieving.
