Project Co-ordinator Dr Hemant Sharma during Health Promotion and COVID-19 prevention messaging activities conducted by MSF in Govandi slums in Mumbai.  More than 400,000 people live in this congested slum area with a high risk of Covid-19 transmission, MSF started HP activities on June 2020 targeting this population. The main activities are cloth mask and soap distribution to vulnerable groups like fever patients, TB patients and street vendors and information on prevention measures such as use of mask, handwashing, sanitation awareness and learning how to identify first symptoms. MSF distributed 20,000 kits directly benefiting 100000 population.

“MSF is now redirecting its efforts and resources to newly constructed 1000 bedded makeshift Jumbo COVID-19 facility at Bandra- Kurla Complex, where such patients will now be sent for admission in larger numbers.”
