Dayana Tabbarah, MSF health promoter, has been working with MSF for six years. “When they first hear about shielding, family members are mostly scared of the feeling of loneliness that their relative could feel. We always encourage them to stay in contact with the “shielded” person, while maintaining physical distancing”, she says. “Our visit also plays a role in this: we’re happy to put a smile on the faces of our patients”. Dayana visits houses of patients who have agreed to participate in the shielding approach recently put in place by MSF in the camp, as part of its COVID-19 response. She explains what shielding is and give advice on needed protection measures like handwashing, safe distancing, cleaning surfaces and others.

تعمل المرشدة الصحية دايانا طبارة مع منظّمة أطباء بلا حدود منذ ستّ سنوات؛ وتقول، "عندما سمعوا لأول مرة عن الحماية الوقائية، خشي أفراد العائلة في الغالب من الشعور بالوحدة الذي قد ينتاب قريبهم. نحن نشجعهم دائماً على البقاء على اتصال مع الشخص الملتزم بالحماية الوقائية، مع الحفاظ بالطبع على التباعد الاجتماعي. وتؤدّي زياراتنا أيضاً دوراً في ذلك: يسعدنا أن نرسم الابتسامات على وجوه المرضى". تزور ديانا منازل المرضى الذين وافقوا على المشاركة في برنامج الحماية الوقائية الذي وضعته منظّمة أطباء بلا حدود مؤخراً في المخيم كجزء من استجابتها لمرض كوفيد-19.
