Behind the conflict in Yemen

The six-year long conflict in Yemen has severely compromised people’s access to essential healthcare. In the governorate of Taiz, in southwestern Yemen, active frontlines, continuous fighting and restrictions on movements have exacerbated the vulnerability of Yemeni patients, who are left with very few options for affordable and accessible medical services.

Many Yemeni families, including our own MSF colleagues, have been displaced from their homes or forced to separate in the search for safety and the chance to earn a living. The accounts of both patients and staff in MSF’s Mother and Child hospital in Taiz Houban demonstrate the profound effect this is having on people’s lives.
